I was grocery shopping with Bentley this afternoon and she already had me cracking up just trying to get me to buy certain things. After about five minutes, I began to tune her out. We were in the baking aisle which also has some bin candy. As I tried to hurry and shop, she ran up to me and said, "Mommy! Look!" And she opened her mouth which was stuffed with candy from the bin section. She already knew she wasn't supposed to have any more candy, and she's been going through a phase lately where she loves to push it (usually it's so hard not to just laugh at her antics). I explained to her that that isn't okay. You need to pay for that candy (kinda feelin' like a hypocrite.. when I used to buy bin candy, I've popped one or two in my mouth) She understands that stealing is bad, but she still seemed so smug. So I asked one of the Smith's employees to tell her that next time she takes the bin candy, she'll have to mop the floor. It terrified Bentley!! She hid behind me while he talked to her (and he wasn't even acting serious! he was laughing...) and just said, sorry! sorry! When I got home, she told Jesse her story and he couldn't believe her begging for forgiveness... I think she learned her lesson..
was i too mean?
